A vertical panorama is twice as long as it is wide!!
Not only is it longer than the standard panorama we all have become
used to, it contains more information, more detail, more stories, than
a standard panorama. A vertical panorama can be quite heavy
if framed in glass but you can achieve that sizable image that is STILL
lightweight by producing the image on
CANVAS (with or without
an additional wood frame) or using clear acrylic to face the print. Many
times, constraints of wall size demand the panorama must not be huge BUT
must have a long, thin aspect. Our vertical panoramas are listed
here in the 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 foot length, BUT longer sizes can be
made.
In addition to canvas or acrylic topped framing, the picture can
be laminated to a board. There are two styles. The difference between
a flat and
float board treatment is that the flat board lies flat against
the wall but the float board stands out one inch from the wall...appearing
to float!
The absolute BEST WAY to appreciate a vertical panorama is by making it
into a satin cloth banner
with furniture grade hardware to hang it. This Astor column photo,
a vertical panorama, began as an Astoria, Oregon photograph. A touch
of digital manipulations , still allowing photo realism to prevail, allows
the long, thin format to be information rich.
