The
Portland Classical Chinese Garden was built in the year 2000 by craftsmen and
artisans from Portland and Suzhou, China. Their mission was to create an
oasis of tranquil beauty as well as visually describe aesthetics surrounding
Ming Dynasty scholars. Though it is only one block in size, in Old Town/Chinatown, it provides a constantly changing Chinese landscape made of water, stones, pathways, and pavilions. Just as a duck returns each year to hatch her ducklings, a person will come back to the garden, over and over again, to listen to nature's never ending tale.
